Chandler Simpson (hamstring) to miss first few exhibition games

Chandler Simpson (hamstring) is expected to miss the first few exhibition games because of left hamstring tightness according to Rays' manager Kevin Cash. (Marc Topkin on X)

Fantasy Impact:

This is not great news, especially for a player like Simpson whose game is built solely around speed. In his rookie season last year, Simpson batted .295 with 44 stolen bases in 109 games with the Rays. Only 18 (15 doubles, 3 triples) of his 122 hits went for extra bases. Simpson finished tied for second, with Jose Ramirez, in steals in the majors but got to 44 in 49 fewer games than Ramirez. The Rays are giving him some rest in an effort to get him healthy and ready for opening day. Monitor closely, especially if you are targeting steals and have Simpson high on your draft day list.
