Max Fried named Opening Day starter

Fried compiled a 2.86 ERA and 1.10 WHIP with 189 strikeouts and 51 walks across 195.1 regular-season innings in 2025. He stayed healthy throughout the campaign, setting career highs in starts, innings pitched, wins and strikeouts during the regular season. (Jack Curry)

Monday's exhibition against Pittsburgh brought another solid performance, with Fried surrendering one run on two hits while striking out six over four innings. Manager Aaron Boone announced after the game that Fried will take the mound on Opening Day.
