Troy Melton (elbow) placed on 60-day injured list

Melton (elbow) received a right elbow strain diagnosis early in camp and has not resumed throwing activities. Detroit placed him on the 60-day injured list on Tuesday, creating 40-man roster space for Enmanuel De Jesus' contract. (Jason Beck)

Late May represents the earliest possible reinstatement date. The return timeline will not clarify until Melton can restart a throwing program.
