Dan Altavilla reassigned to Twins' minor league camp

Righthander Dan Altavilla has been reassigned to minor league camp by the Minnesota Twins. (Minnesota Twins on X)
Fantasy Impact:
Altavilla pitched five innings for the Twins this spring and posted a 5.40 ERA. He also tossed two innings for Team Italy in the World Baseball Classic allowing one run while striking out four. Altavilla, a fifth-round pick out of Mercyhurst by the Mariners in 2014, has pitched parts of eight big league seasons with the Mariners, Padres, Royals, and White Sox. He had a bit of a resurgence last season in Chicago, pitching to a 2.48 ERA with a pair of saves in 29 innings. Altavilla didn't pitch a ton this spring, so the likely scenario is that he gets additional work at the outset in Triple-A St. Paul and then joins the Twins at some point to provide another veteran arm in the bullpen.
