Christian Vazquez has made the Astros' Opening Day roster as the backup catcher, according to manager Joe Espada. (Matt Kawahara on Twitter)

Vazquez, who is in his second stint with the Astros, was battling Cesar Salazar for the backup catcher spot behind Yainer Diaz. The veteran appeared in just four spring games due to his early-March signing and an appearance for Puerto Rico at the World Baseball Classic.
