Max Fried tossed 6 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing just two hits while striking out four and walking one in the Yankees’ 7-0 victory over the San Francisco Giants Wednesday night.

Fried kept the San Francisco lineup off balance, holding it to a dismal .095 batting average in the win. The left-hander will be tasked with carrying a New York rotation that begins the season without both Gerrit Cole (elbow) and Carlos Rodon (elbow) with his next scheduled start coming on the road against the Seattle Mariners.
