Griffin Jax charged with blown save on Opening Day

by Nicholas Rodriguez | Rays Correspondent | Fri, Mar 27th 3:13am EDT

Griffin Jax blew the save in Thursday’s 9-7 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals, allowing a two-run home run to Alec Burleson. He finished with one earned run on one hit over two-thirds of an inning.

Fantasy Impact:

Trailing 7-1, the Cardinals mounted an eight-run rally in the sixth inning, highlighted by a two-run home run from Burleson that gave them the lead. Jax is part of a closer-by-committee alongside southpaw Garrett Cleavinger, who also struggled and was tagged with the loss after allowing two earned runs on two hits in one-third of an inning, and Bryan Baker, who did not pitch in the game. Jax will look to bounce back in his next opportunity, but the Rays are likely to continue using a closer-by-committee approach until someone separates from the group.
