Trevor Story homers but eighth inning at-bat sparks controversy

by Bruno Mulé | Red Sox Correspondent | Sun, Mar 29th 9:38am EDT

Story is 2-for-11 through two games with an RBI in each contest. His third-inning solo shot Saturday was his first home run of the season, but the night's most consequential at-bat came in the eighth with two outs, two runners on, and Boston trailing by one — when home plate umpire CB Bucknor called Story out on a checked swing.

Fantasy Impact:

Boston had exhausted all of its challenges earlier in the game, leaving the call uncontested. Bucknor had six of eight ABS challenges overturned on the night. Story argued at the plate and manager Alex Cora came out, eventually getting ejected, as the Red Sox fell 6-5 in extra innings.
