Eric Lauer strikes out nine, notches win in season debut Sunday
by Brenton Kemp | Blue Jays Correspondent | Mon, Mar 30th 7:46am EDT
Blue Jays left-hander Eric Lauer racked up nine strikeouts as part of a winning effort in a 5-2 win over the visiting Athletics on Sunday.
Fantasy Impact:
Lauer continued the strikeout parade for Blue Jays starters in the season-opening series against the Athletics, punching out nine over his 5 1/3 innings of two-run ball on Sunday. He yielded three hits and walked one. The southpaw is in the starting rotation with Trey Yesavage, Shane Bieber, and Jose Berrios all on the injured list to begin the season, but with more performances like Sunday, Lauer could fend off the competition and keep a spot in the rotation into the summer.
