Anthony Bender records save Sunday

by Nicholas Rodriguez | Marlins Correspondent | Mon, Apr 6th 4:51am EDT

Anthony Bender allowed two earned runs on one hit and three walks while striking out two hitters to record his first save of the season in Sunday’s 7-6 victory over the New York Yankees.

Fantasy Impact:

Bender opened the ninth inning strong by getting Aaron Judge to ground out, but he then issued back-to-back walks and surrendered a two-out double to Jazz Chisholm Jr. that cut the deficit to one run. However, Bender bounced back by striking out J.C. Escarra to secure the win. He received the save opportunity with Pete Fairbanks serving as the opener on Sunday, so he could leave early to join his wife for the birth of their fourth child. Given how Sunday’s outing unfolded, Tyler Phillips and Calvin Faucher could be in line for save chances while Fairbanks is away.
