Janson Junk tosses career-high 7.1 innings Monday
by Nicholas Rodriguez | Marlins Correspondent | Tue, Apr 7th 4:25am EDT
Janson Junk allowed two earned runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out three over 7.1 innings in Monday's loss to the Cincinnati Reds.
Fantasy Impact:
Junk ran into early trouble on Monday, allowing a leadoff single to TJ Friedl and walking Matt McLain, but he worked out of the inning without giving up a run. He surrendered his first earned run in the fourth inning and his second in the eighth, finishing with a strong outing on just 87 pitches. Junk showed why he earned the final Opening Day rotation spot for the Miami Marlins over Braxton Garrett. Through two starts, he owns a 3.09 ERA and 1.20 WHIP with eight strikeouts across 11.2 innings. His next outing is scheduled for Saturday against the Detroit Tigers.
