Joe Boyle allows five earned runs Wednesday
by Nicholas Rodriguez | Rays Correspondent | Thu, Apr 9th 5:23am EDT
Joe Boyle allowed five earned runs on four hits and three walks while striking out three over 4.1 innings in Wednesday's 6-2 loss to the Chicago Cubs.
Fantasy Impact:
Boyle surrendered a leadoff home run to Nico Hoerner but quickly settled in, retiring the next three batters and cruising through innings two through four. He ran into trouble in the fifth, allowing a leadoff double followed by two walks, and a pair of Tampa Bay Rays errors extended the inning and led to his exit. This marked his worst start of the 2026 season, and he now owns a 5.17 ERA and 1.09 WHIP across three appearances. With Drew Pepiot (hip) nearing a return, it’s unclear whether Boyle will receive another opportunity in the rotation.
