Eduardo Rodriguez earns first victory of season Thursday

by David Leisering | Diamondbacks Correspondent | Thu, Apr 9th 11:22pm EDT

Eduardo Rodriguez picked up his first victory of the season on Thursday as he went six innings and allowed one run on five hits, walked two, and struck out three. Arizona defeated the Mets, 7-1.

Fantasy Impact:

Rodriguez (1-0) allowed only a solo home run to Luis Robert, Jr. in the bottom of the first inning - the first earned run he allowed in his third start of the year. The veteran lefthander threw 102 pitches on the night and threw his final pitch of the night with the Diamondbacks still trailing, 1-0. However, Arizona's offense scored four in the top of the seventh to put Rodriguez in line for the win. He has had two disappointing seasons in the desert, but he is off to a great start to the 2026 season as he has given up just one earned run in 18 innings with an 11:5 K:BB ratio. Rodriguez will take his 0.50 ERA into his next start in Baltimore next week. He should be a popular addition for fantasy owners looking for pitching depth.
