George Springer (toe) fractures big left toe Saturday

by David Leisering | Blue Jays Correspondent | Sat, Apr 11th 5:24pm EDT

George Springer left Saturday's game early and was diagnosed with a fractured big left toe. He went 0-for-1 with a walk and a run scored prior to his exit. (Toronto Blue Jays on X)

Fantasy Impact:

Springer fouled a ball off of his foot in the bottom of the third inning, but finished his at bat by grounding out to third base. Myles Straw hit for the Blue Jays' designated hitter in the bottom of the sixth. Though it has not been officially announced, Springer will likely join a laundry list of players on the injured list for Toronto. The veteran, who is in his final year of a six-year, $150 million contract with the Blue Jays, was off to a slow start this season, batting just .185 (10-for-54) with two home runs and six runs batted in through 14 games.
