Max Fried allowed five earned runs on three hits and three walks while striking out three over 5 1/3 innings in Thursday’s loss to the Angels.

Fried has fought command issues on the mound of late, allowing three or more earned runs in each of his last three starts. The left-hander remains a top-tier starting option while working through a rough patch on the mound while leading the Yankees rotation for manager Aaron Boone, carrying a 2.97 ERA and 0.81 WHIP with a 2-1 record and 2.88 K/BB ratio through five starts.
