Paul Skenes goes four scoreless innings in rain-shortened outing

by David Leisering | Pirates Correspondent | Sun, Apr 19th 11:15am EDT

Paul Skenes pitched four scoreless innings on Saturday, allowing three hits while striking out five, before a rain delay ended his outing. The Pirates went on to suffer an 8-7, 13-inning loss to the Rays.

Fantasy Impact:

Skenes was rolling on his bobblehead day, but Mother Nature was too much for him to overcome as he could only get through four innings. After allowing five runs in two-thirds of an inning in his season opener, Skenes is back to form and has allowed only three runs on nine hits with a 22:5 K:BB ratio over his last four starts (21.1 innings). The righthander has a 1.27 ERA and a 0.64 WHIP in April and is scheduled to take on Milwaukee in his next start on Friday.
