Paul Skenes flirts with perfection Friday in Pirates' win

by David Leisering | Pirates Correspondent | Sat, Apr 25th 12:25am EDT

Paul Skenes allowed one hit and struck out seven in seven scoreless innings to lead the Pirates to a 6-0 blanking of Milwaukee on Friday.

Fantasy Impact:

Skenes allowed a single to Jake Bauers with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning, breaking up his bid for a perfect game. He retired the next batter, Tyler Black, on a flyout to get through seven dominant innings. Skenes improved to 4-1 on the season and has been absolutely ridiculous in April, posting a 0.95 ERA and 0.53 WHIP in five starts during the month. Over his last 28.1 innings, Skenes has allowed 10 hits, limiting opponents to a .106 average, and has walked five while striking out 29. Skenes will take the mound against the Cardinals, in Pittsburgh, on Wednesday.
