Bryan Baker records fifth save of season Friday
by Nicholas Rodriguez | Rays Correspondent | Sat, Apr 25th 3:52am EDT
Bryan Baker came on in the ninth inning with runners on base and got out of the jam without allowing a hit or a walk to earn his fifth save of the season in Friday's 6-2 win over the Minnesota Twins.
Fantasy Impact:
Trevor Martin started the ninth inning after pitching a scoreless eighth, but gave up a leadoff home run and two hits before Baker entered with runners on second and third. Baker retired the next three batters without allowing a run, helping the Rays seal the victory. While the Rays began the season with a closer-by-committee approach, Baker has clearly emerged as the favorite, leading the team with five saves. He owns a 3.86 ERA and 1.07 WHIP with 10 strikeouts across 9.1 innings.
