by David Leisering | Cubs Correspondent | Tue, Apr 28th 9:34am EDT
Matthew Boyd pitched four-plus innings on Monday and allowed five runs on eight hits, walked two, and struck out four as the Cubs dropped a 9-7 decision to the Padres.
Fantasy Impact:
Boyd struggled to get out of the first inning on Monday as the Padres jumped on the lefthander for three runs on three hits and two walks. He allowed another run in the third and then allowed a leadoff double to Manny Machado in the fifth before exiting. Machado later came in to score. Boyd has a solid 26:5 K:BB ratio and has allowed just one home run in 18 innings. However, the lefthander has an ERA of 7.00 and a WHIP of 1.44 that he will take into his next start against Arizona on Sunday.
