Ildemaro Vargas went 4-for-4 with four singles, a walk, and an RBI on Friday. However, the Diamondbacks dropped a 6-5 decision to the Cubs.
Fantasy Impact:
Vargas extended his hitting streak to 27 games, dating back to last season, with his four-hit performance on Friday. He now trails only Luis Gonzalez' 30-game streak in 1999 as the longest in franchise history. He has hit safely in all 24 games this season and recorded his first four-hit game since August 3, 2022. Over his last five games, he is hitting .600 (12-for-20) with four multi-hit performances. Vargas now has enough at bats to be a qualified hitter and he easily leads the majors with a .404 batting average while ranking third with a 1.131 OPS.
