Jack Kochanowicz suffers first loss of season Sunday

by David Leisering | Angels Correspondent | Sun, May 3rd 11:19pm EDT

Jack Kochanowicz went 6.1 innings on Sunday and allowed two runs on five hits while walking three and striking out six as the Angels dropped a 5-1 decision to the Mets.

Fantasy Impact:

Kochanowicz pitched well enough to earn a quality start on Sunday, but was outdueled by New York's Clay Holmes and was saddled with his first loss of the year instead. The righthander made one mistake that cost him as Mark Vientos belted a two-run homer in the top of the fourth to give the Mets a 2-1 lead. Kochanowicz has not allowed more than three runs in a start since his first start of the year on March 29 and has been a pleasant surprise to the Angels' rotation this season. After going 3-11 with a 6.81 ERA in 23 starts last year, Kochanowicz is 2-1 with a 3.05 ERA in seven starts this season and has limited opponents to a .192 batting average, allowing 29 hits in 41.1 innings. He's slated to take on the Blue Jays, in Toronto, on Saturday.
