Tomoyuki Sugano takes no-hitter into sixth, suffers loss Monday

by David Leisering | Rockies Correspondent | Mon, May 4th 9:32pm EDT

Tomoyuki Sugano had a no-hitter through five innings on Monday, but allowed four runs in the sixth and suffered his second loss of the season - a 4-2 loss to the Mets.

Fantasy Impact:

Sugano breezed through the Mets' lineup over the first five innings, allowing only a leadoff walk to Carson Benge in the third. Benge ended the no-hit bid - and the shutout bid - with a leadoff home run in the sixth. Sugano then allowed back-to-back doubles, a walk, and a groundout to end his day. Both runners who were on base after Sugano exited, ended up scoring. He threw only 61 pitches on the day with 48 of those getting him through the first five innings. Sugano has been good for the Rockies in his first season with Colorado and will take a 3-2 record, a 3.41 ERA, and a 1.14 WHIP into his next start in Philadelphia on Sunday.
