Alek Manoah makes successful return to majors Friday
by David Leisering | Angels Correspondent | Sat, May 9th 1:28am EDT
Alek Manoah pitched a perfect eighth inning on Friday in his first appearance in the big leagues since 2024. The Angels, however, lost to Toronto, 2-0.
Fantasy Impact:
Manoah was activated from the injured list on Wednesday by the Angels and pitched in his first major league game on Friday since May 29, 2024, as a member of the Blue Jays. Manoah needed just 11 pitches to retire Daulton Varsho on a pop to short, Ernie Clement on strikes, and Jesus Sanchez on a pop to second. It's unclear how Manoah will be used moving forward but, with Yusei Kikuchi on the injured list, the righthander may be in the mix to take his spot in the rotation in the short term. There's no need to make a mad dash to the waiver wire at the moment, but keep an eye on him as he was a 16-game winner with a 2.24 ERA back in 2022 with the Blue Jays.
