Ben Brown shuts down Braves for four innings in Thursday start
by David Leisering | Cubs Correspondent | Thu, May 14th 11:22pm EDT
Ben Brown started for the Cubs on Thursday and allowed one hit and one walk while striking out seven over four scoreless innings. Chicago defeated Atlanta, 2-0.
Fantasy Impact:
Brown was sensational in his second consecutive start, allowing just a leadoff single to Michael Harris II in the second while striking out a season-high seven batters. In his two starts, Brown has allowed one hit in eight scoreless innings while posting a 10:2 K:BB ratio. In four appearances this month, Brown has a 0.82 ERA and has held opponents to an .057 batting average. Overall, the righthander is 1-1 with a 1.60 ERA and a 34:10 K:BB ratio in 14 appearances, spanning 33.2 innings. He threw a season-high 65 pitches on Thursday and, it appears as though he will remain in the Cubs' rotation. The goal now will be to get him stretched out further so that he can work deeper into games. His next time around would come on Tuesday against the Brewers and, if he does remain a starter, he's definitely worth a flier.
