Martin Perez sets new career high in strikeouts Tuesday

by Nate Miller | Braves Correspondent | Wed, May 20th 10:10am EDT

Martin Perez gave up four runs on five hits and two walks while racking up 10 strikeouts over five innings in Tuesday's 8-4 win over the Marlins.

Fantasy Impact:

After making his previous two appearances out of the Braves' bullpen, Perez started for the first time in nearly two weeks on Tuesday. The veteran southpaw might have been shaking a bit of rust off in a three-run first frame, but he locked in over the following four innings, surrendering just one additional run and keeping the Braves in the game. The 10 punchouts marked a new career high for Perez, and he only needed 78 pitches to accomplish the feat. The 35-year-old is now sporting a 2.85 ERA and 1.00 WHIP through 10 games (six starts) on the season.
