JR Ritchie excellent in long relief Friday night

by Nate Miller | Braves Correspondent | Sat, Jun 13th 9:32am EDT

JR Ritchie worked five scoreless innings out of the bullpen in Friday's 7-5 loss to the Mets, allowing just two hits and one walk while striking out five.

Fantasy Impact:

Ritchie entered this game in relief of Atlanta starter Spencer Strider during the fourth inning Friday night with one and none out. He was on the mound when Strider's last charged run came around to score, but other than that, Ritchie was on cruise control for the rest of the game. This was Ritchie's first appearance since being recalled earlier this week, and he certainly took advantage. He now holds a respectable 3.82 ERA with a 26-17 K/BB across 30 2/3 innings in the bigs this season. With Strider experiencing some arm discomfort Friday night, there's at least a chance Ritchie's next appearances comes as a starter.
