Ryan Rolison retires all four batters he faces as opener Sunday
by David Leisering | Cubs Correspondent | Sun, Jun 14th 9:55pm EDT
Ryan Rolison served as an opener for the first time this season on Sunday and retired all four batters he faced in the Cubs' 5-1 loss to the Giants.
Fantasy Impact:
Rolison made his first start of the season and second of his career on Sunday and needed just 11 pitches to get four outs. The lefthander has not allowed an earned run in his last 10 appearances covering a span of 13 innings. In that stretch, Rolison has allowed only six hits and has an 11:6 K:BB ratio. After posting a 7.02 ERA in 31 appearances as a rookie last season, Rolison is 5-1 with a 2.13 ERA in 21 outings this season. It's unknown if he will continue to serve as an opener moving forward or if he will move back to the middle innings of the Cubs' bullpen.
