Thomas was almost surely going to be traded prior to Monday's trade deadline as a pending free agent who has made a living off clobbering left-handed pitching. Thomas is hitting .263 with an .800 OPS off of lefties this season, and is a career .288 hitter with an .850 OPS against southpaw pitching.
