Clay Holmes allowed one hit and one walk while striking out three across 6.2 scoreless innings in Friday's 3-0 win over the St. Louis Cardinals.

Holmes allowed four runs in his debut with the Chicago Cubs but bounced back in a big way on Friday, tossing 6.2 scoreless innings on just 80 pitches. The lone hit he allowed was a single to Jose Fermin in the sixth inning, while his only walk came to Jordan Walker with two outs in the seventh before he was pulled from the game. He now owns a 3.38 ERA and 0.94 WHIP with the Cubs this season. His next scheduled start is on Wednesday against the Chicago White Sox.
