Preston Tucker struggles and gets optioned Sunday

by James Ignatius Zeankowski | Sun, May 15th 11:05pm EDT

In Sunday's series loss to the Boston Red Sox, Preston Tucker served as DH and could not muster a hit. He went 0-for-4 with a pair of ground outs and a pair of strikeouts to lower his average to .176 on the season. After the game, Tucker was optioned to the Triple-A Fresno Grizzlies squad to make room for the return of Evan Gattis to the active roster on Tuesday, when the team travels to the south side of Chicago to face the White Sox. Fantasy Impact:

Considering his recent struggles, the option of Tucker was to be expected at some point. Especially, given that in as many games as he has played this season, 33 of them to be exact, he has an average 81 points lower than this time last season. (.257 in 33 games in 2015) Taking a stint down in the minors should help Tucker get his batting groove back, as well as even give him a chance to work on his glove in the outfield. Since he was ranking in the 300's in many categories, and is only 1% owned as of today, fantasy owners need not fret one way or another about the move of Tucker.
