Andrew Chafin drawing interest from Mets, White Sox

The Mets and White Sox are among teams that are looking to trade for Andrew Chafin.

Fantasy Impact

There are many teams that will look to add a quality left-handed reliever, and Chafin is just that. He's in the 96th percentile or higher in xwOBA, xERA, xBA, xSLG, and Chase Rate. He probably won't find himself any more save opportunities after getting traded, however.

Andrew Chafin picks up Wednesday save

Detroit Tigers left-hander Andrew Chafin got the final two outs of a 4-2 win over the Twins to earn a save on Wednesday.

Fantasy Impact

Chafin took over for Michael Fulmer, who started the inning but loaded the bases thanks to a single and an error. Chafin came on and got the last two outs to save the game. The lefty has appeared in 13 games in 2022, compiling a 0-1 record, 2.70 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and 12 strikeouts over 10 innings of work. Gregory Soto remains Detroit's preferred closer, but he was unavailable after getting four outs in the eighth and ninth innings.

Andrew Chafin closing in on rehab assignment

Tigers reliever Andrew Chafin is reportedly nearing a rehab assignment. He fired a couple of bullpen sessions recently and is slated for an appearance at Low-A Lakeland Thursday.

Fantasy Impact

Chafin was one of the better relievers in all of baseball in 2021. In split time between the Cubs and Athletics, he pitched to a 1.83 ERA with 64 K's in 62 1/3 innings. Detroit signed him this offseason hoping to improve their pen. He is worth keeping an eye on, as the closer situation has been inconsistent for a couple years now, despite Gregory Soto's success this season.

Andrew Chafin (groin) to begin season on injured list

Tigers left-handed relief pitcher Andrew Chafin (groin) will begin the season on the injured list according to Tigers manager AJ Hinch.

Fantasy Impact

Chafin’s injury is said to be minor at this time, so the veteran southpaw should not miss significant time at this point. The Tigers certainly hope so, as his absence definitely downgrades the back end of a revamped bullpen looking for big improvement during the 2022 season.

Andrew Chafin signs with Tigers

Andrew Chafin signs a two-year, $13 million deal with the Detroit Tigers

Fantasy Impact

Chafin is coming off a career-best season where he posted a 1.83 ERA in 68.2 innings. He also locked down five saves and 22 holds. The lefty could see a chance at some saves, even though the team has Gregory Soto penciled in as their closer.
