Eligibility
Guardians catcher Cam Gallagher is not in the starting lineup Thursday versus the Orioles.
Fantasy Impact
Gallagher started behind the plate in Wednesday's series finale in Kansas City and went 0-for-2 with a strikeout before being lifted for a pinch-hitter. The veteran has hit just .132 without a home run in 142 plate appearances on the season.
Guardians catcher Cam Gallagher is back on the bench for Monday's game against the Astros.
Fantasy Impact
Gallagher got the start behind the plate on Sunday afternoon and went 0-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout on the day. He will predictably retreat to the bench on Monday as he's hitting just .139 without a homer across 114 plate appearances this season.
Guardians catcher Cam Gallagher is in the starting lineup Thursday versus the Red Sox.
Fantasy Impact
It's been a disastrous season for the 30-year-old backstop as Gallagher is hitting just .121 without a homer alongside a .309 OPS across 70 trips to the plate. He'll hit ninth against Red Sox left-hander Matt Dermody on Thursday night in Cleveland.
Cam Gallagher went 2-for-3 with two doubles, a walk and three RBI in Kansas City’s 9-7 loss to Oakland on Saturday.
Fantasy Impact
Gallagher drove in three runs in his first start since returned from a 45-day stint in the IL. Gallagher is slashing .350/.409/.550 over his first 20 at-bats of the season. Gallagher should continue to see more at-bats down the stretch backing up MJ Melendez with the recent loss of Salvador Perez. Gallagher makes for a decent low cost option in DFS leagues on days he starts.
Cam Gallagher has been activated from the 10-day IL and RHP Matt Peacock has been optioned to Triple-A Omaha in a corresponding move as reported by MLB.com's Sarah Wexler.
Fantasy Impact
Cam Gallagher has been sidelined for seven weeks with a strained hamstring and a rehab stint in Omaha. In that time, MJ Melendez has been called up and cemented himself as the primary backup catcher to Salvador Perez and regular in the starting lineup, thus relegating Gallagher to third/emergency catcher status. That being said, Melendez has been used in the outfield and as DH so there are more paths to catching than there could be for Gallagher but he remains largely irrelevant for fantasy purposes, barring an injury to either of the aforementioned Perez or Melendez. The Royals don't have to carry three catchers, so it speaks to how they value Gallagher, but still, for fantasy purposes, he is a far cry from a regular option.
