Colin Rea went 5.1 scoreless innings on Saturday, allowing only three hits while striking out three in a no-decision against the Blue Jays.
Fantasy Impact
Rea, arguably, had his best start of the season on Saturday and exited with the Cubs holding a 3-0 lead. However, the bullpen imploded, allowing eight runs in the seventh and eighth innings to cost Rea a victory. It was his first scoreless outing of the season and the three hits he allowed were his fewest since giving up two hits in his first start of the year on April 8 against Cleveland. Rea is 5-5 with a 4.99 ERA and a 59:28 K:BB ratio through 16 appearances (12 starts). He's lined up for a start against the Mets in his next time out on Thursday.
Colin Rea suffered the loss on Sunday after he allowed four runs on six hits, walked three, and struck out two over 4.2 innings in a bulk relief outing.
Fantasy Impact
Rea followed Ryan Rolison, who served as the Cubs' opener and who needed only 11 pitches to retire all four batters he faced. Rea did not fare as well as he was charged with the loss after allowing four runs and ten baserunners (six hits, three walks, one hit batter). The righthander has struggled of late, going 0-2 with a 7.98 ERA and a 7:8 K:BB ratio in three appearances this month. With Matthew Boyd (knee) scheduled to resume throwing this week, Rea looks like he may be the odd man out of the rotation after Boyd returns - unless he can turn things around soon.
Colin Rea allowed two earned runs on four hits and two walks while striking out three over 5.1 innings in Wednesday's loss to the Athletics.
Fantasy Impact
Rea has now turned in three start starts allowing three earned runs or less with at least five innings pitched. After the loss, Rea now has a 4.59 ERA and 1.35 WHIP with a 5-3 record through 10 starts. He is slated to make his next start Tuesday against the Rockies.
Colin Rea allowed two runs on four hits in 5.1 innings on Thursday as the Cubs defeated the Pirates, 7-2.
Fantasy Impact
Rea walked three and struck out five in earning his fifth victory of the season. He kept the Pirates off the scoreboard until a leadoff home run by Bryan Reynolds in the sixth inning. Rea is now 5-3 with a 4.70 ERA and a 49:20 K:BB ratio in 12 appearances (nine starts) this season. He's scheduled to take on the Athletics on Wednesday.
Colin Rea pitched seven innings on Saturday and allowed three runs on four hits, walked three, and struck out four as the Cubs were blanked by the Astros, 3-0.
Fantasy Impact
Rea pitched well on Saturday, but could not solve Christian Walker on Saturday which led to his third loss of the season. Walker went 3-for-3 with two home runs and three RBI off of Rea - the rest of the Astros lineup had just one hit off the righthander. It was Rea's longest outing of the year and was a solid effort after allowing nine runs on 13 hits in nine innings over his previous two starts. Rea will take a 4-3 record and a 4.83 ERA into his next scheduled start at Pittsburgh on Thursday.
