Hunter Pence has been DFA'd by the San Francisco Giants as they continue to build a youth movement in the Bay.
Pence had really struggled to start the year with .096 batting-average and a .411 OPS in 52 at-bats. The move will clear a playing time path for younger players on the roster as the Giants continue to rebuild.
Hunter Pence isn’t in the lineup for Monday’s game against the Angels.
Pence will come off the bench for the second consecutive game. He has been ice cold at the plate, collecting one hit in his last 13 at-bats. Marcio Dubon will replace him in the lineup.
Hunter Pence went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts on Friday.
Pence is not up to 21 at-bats on the season without a hit. At this point, it has to be affecting the mental aspect of the game, especially in such a short season. Hard to trust him on a fantasy team moving forward.
Hunter Pence went hitless in four at bats as the Giants fell to the Dodgers 8-1 on Thursday.
Pence hit fifth and was the team's designate hitter in this one. He had been dealing with a foot injury entering the start of the regular season but should be good to go moving forward.
OF Hunter Pence (foot) did some light running Wednesday, but isn't playing the field yet.
Pence has been dealing with inflammation in his his foot, and has been limited to DH duties during intrasquad games. The 37-year-old may not be ready to play the field by Opening Day, but the Giants will be able to use him as the everyday designated hitter. Pence slashed .297/.358/.552 with 18 homers, 59 RBI, 53 runs ans six stolen bases across 316 plate appearances for the Rangers in 2019.
