Hunter Pence returned to the Giants' lineup after missing a few games with a hamstring injury. He went 3-for-3 with a double and a run scored.

Fantasy Impact: It was a good sign to see Pence return after his setback, and an even better sign that he went 3-for-3, considering he had been just 4-for-26 against Zack Greinke. Pence has struggled to find his groove since coming back from the disabled list, but hopefully Tuesday's performance is a sign of things to come.

San Francisco Giants OF Hunter Pence was 2-for-5 with a home run in Sunday's 8-7 loss to the Baltimore Orioles. It was hit 8th home run during an injury-plagued season.

Fantasy Impact: Pence helped the Giants build a four run lead on the Orioles before the bullpen failed to close the game out. His injuries and production this year have been a cause for concern though. Pence has a .274 batting average with 38 RBIs and hopefully he can create more production like he did on Sunday to help with your fantasy teams playoff push.

Fantasy Impact: The hamstring issue continues to linger, as they tend to do, and the Giants will likely continue to take it slow with Pence to allow him time to fully recover. It's a big absence for the Giants and fantasy owners alike, as Pence was having a nice season prior to the hamstring issue.

Fantasy Impact: It would be great to have Pence back as he is as consistent as they come. Pence was hitting .298 in 181 at-bats before he got hurt. If you have him, put him in your lineups.

San Francisco Giants outfielder Hunter Pence will likely miss eight weeks after opting to have surgery on his right hamstring after injuring it on Wednesday. (Source: ESPN)

Fantasy Impact: Pence was helped off the field Wednesday after he ran to first base trying to beat an infield groundball and then felt a pop in his right hamstring. The surgery has yet to be scheduled. Jarrett Parker and Mac Williamson are in line to get some starts in Pence's absence.

Hunter Pence will be placed on the 15-day disabled list due to his hamstring injury, the team has announced.

Fantasy Impact: Pence suffered the injury during Wednesday's game. The Giants have said that it's similar to the one that sidelined Pence last month for a stretch of games. While Pence was able to avoid the DL that time, he won't be as lucky at this point. Owners will want to look for the grade of the strain to help determine how long they'll be without their OF. He's been one of the most productive hitters for San Francisco with an OPS of .861 and seven HRs.

Hunter Pence has been placed on the 15-day disabled list due to a strained right hamstring that he re-injured running to first base Wednesday. (Source: Sportsinsights on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: This hurts as Pence was just getting back into his groove. Pence should be activated right at the time his DL stint is up. If you are in a weekly league, make sure you adjust your lineup accordingly. For DFS purposes, you can probably find good value in the person that replaces Pence in the Giants lineup.

Category: , Injury Updates

The Giants lost on the road to Atlanta 5-3, but Pence finished with two hits in four ABs.

Fantasy Impact: This was Pence's third game back in the starting lineup after a minor hamstring injury. He's 7-for-14 in that time with three runs and three RBI. The outfielder looks fine and should be played by his owners.

Category: , Game Recaps

Hunter Pence was once again out of the Giants' starting lineup on Wednesday due to his hamstring injury.

Fantasy Impact: The team continues to play it safe with their veteran OF. San Francisco has a day off Thursday, so Pence's next chance at a return will be Friday against the Rockies. Considering the series is in Colorado, owners would certainly welcome Pence back to their lineups.

Category: , Injury Updates

Hunter Pence is not in the Giants' starting lineup on Tuesday. Gregor Blanco is playing right field in place of Pence.

Fantasy Impact: Disappointing to see Pence out of the lineup after his big pinch-hit double on Monday. Bruce Bochy said that Pence may be out of the starting lineup until Friday. Although that's bad news for fantasy owners, it does not seem like a DL situation given that Pence appeared in the game yesterday.

Category: , Injury Updates

Hunter Pence did not start his third straight game on Monday with a balky hamstring, but did come off the bench to pinch hit in the ninth inning. Pence hit a bloop RBI double that won the game for the Giants.

Fantasy Impact: Pence's pinch-hit appearance is an obvious sign that his hamstring injury isn't serious enough to land him on the DL. He should start Tuesday's game but, even if not, he should be back in the starting lineup at some point this week.

Category: , Game Recaps

Hunter Pence was once again out of the Giants' lineup on Sunday due to his hamstring injury. He also missed Saturday's game due to the ailment.

Fantasy Impact: It seems that Pence will be available to start the week, as he was reportedly available off the bench Sunday. He's been one of the Giants' offensive leaders with seven home runs and an OPS of .854.

Category: , Injury Updates

Hunter Pence's seventh home run of the season brought home the Giants' only two runs in their 2-1 win against the Padres on Wednesday.

Fantasy Impact: Pence himself went 1-for-4, but the 33-year-old has had a stellar start to the 2016 season, sporting an .885 OPS so far. There's no reason why his success shouldn't continue all season long, considering that his current BABIP on the year is only 23 points higher than his career .322 BABIP.

Fantasy Impact: Pence has provided great value this season, as he has outplayed his ADP and has his best OPS since 2011. Although his 13 extra-bases are solid, his 19 runs scored and 27 RBI make Pence a legitimate OF2 in 2016. Pence has three career home runs while hitting .476 against the Diamondbacks' starter on Saturday, Patrick Corbin, making Pence and those around him in the San Francisco lineup great DFS plays today.

Fantasy Impact: Hunter Pence has been on fire as of late. He has bounced his average up to .293 now, and he is five-for-nine (.555 average) in his last three games with four RBI and a home run. It's good to see Pence bounce back after a slow start, but he has always been a streaky hitter.

Hunter Pence hit his third home run of the season on Sunday against the Marlins. Pence is batting .260 with 11 runs and 12 RBI.

Fantasy Impact: It's been a bit of an uneven beginning to the year for Pence, but now he finds himself on pace for a pretty typical year (24 homers, 89 runs, 97 RBI). He's a solid mid-tier OF in fantasy, and should continue to be productive so long as he's healthy.

Category: , Game Recaps

Hunter Pence went 1-for-4 in Tuesday's loss, extending his modest hitting streak to five games.

Fantasy Impact: He's registered a single hit in each of the five games, so the streak hasn't significantly impacted his batting average. He's walked at a solid rate to start the season, but we've yet to see much power since the early going, and he continues to strike out at a high clip.

Category: , Game Recaps

Hunter Pence did not get a hit in his five at-bats, but he did score a run against the Rockies. Pence has struggled and needs to turn things around in a hurry.

Fantasy Impact: Hunter Pence is the type of player that will struggle then get hot against any pitcher. He only has three hits in his last 14 at-bats (.214 average), so that hot streak should start soon.

Category: , Game Recaps

Hunter Pence was able to get just one hit in four at-bats, but did pick up an RBI. He also struck out.

Fantasy Impact: Hunter Pence has seen his average dip a little farther than his typical norm, as he is hitting just .273 and he has just four hits in his last 18 at-bats. He is also struggling in the power department with only two home runs, but hIs nine RBI are a good sign.

Category: , Game Recaps

Hunter Pence has recovered nicely from his Achilles injury suffered earlier in Spring Training. He is expected to play in his first Spring Training game Friday. (Source: Andrew Baggarly on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: As expected, the injury shouldn't impact the start of Pence's regular season. Our experts like him well above his current ADP of 92 overall, considering him as No. 68 in ECR. Zeile likes him to return to the 20-home run, 80-RBI range in 2016.

Category: , Injury Updates

Hunter Pence underwent a precautionary MRI which revealed only inflammation in his ailing Achilles. This confirms that there is no structural damage, keeping Pence on his return time frame of next week. (Source: Alex Pavlovic on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: This was expected, but it's still good news for the Giants and Pence owners. At this point, it doesn't appear the Achilles will impact the start of Pence's regular season.

Hunter Pence has been sidelined since Friday due to a what he calls a mild Achilles injury. The OF will continue to remain out at least for another week due to the injury. (Source: San Francisco Chronicle)

Fantasy Impact: Despite his continued absence, Pence did say that he's feeling a lot better. He added that the Giants are being extremely conservative considering the time of year and his veteran status. This isn't expected to impact his availability for the start of the regular season since he wasn't likely to see a ton of early at-bats even if fully healthy.

San Francisco Giants OF Hunter Pence is improving from an oblique injury that landed him on the DL on August 17th. Pence has continued to up his exercise and take swings, but has yet to hit off a tee. (Source: MlB.com)

Fantasy Impact: If the Giants are still in postseason contention, it is possible Pence will return by September 28th when the Giants start a home series against the LA Dodgers then the Colorado Rockies. There is no rush in the Giants organization to get him back on the field. This late in the season it's hard to see Pence making any sort of fantasy impact for a last week comeback in your fantasy league.

Category: , Injury Updates

The Giants have announced that Hunter Pence's oblique injury is worse than they originally thought. He won't be able to return in the two-week timeframe they initially expected. (Source: Alex Pavlovic on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: There's no clear timeframe on his return, but there's a chance he could be out for the remainder of the fantasy season considering the lingering nature of oblique injuries.

Hunter Pence returns to the DL with a left oblique strain, expected to miss just about the minimum. (Source: Alex Pavlovic)

Fantasy Impact: Pence's main skill is staying healthy, which hasn't been on display at all this season. Luckily the Giants aren't stringing us along and placing him directly on the DL. The Giants situation isn't one worth looking at to replace him.

Category: , Injury Updates

Hunter Pence will not play tonight as he is checked by doctors for a potential injury. (Source: Alex Pavlovic)

Fantasy Impact: Pence has been one of baseball's iron men, but this is likely going to be his third DL stint of the year. He has been productive when playing, but he has been in and out of the lineup this season.

Category: , Injury Updates

San Francisco Giants OF Hunter Pence came up empty again on Wednesday, as he went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in a 2-0 loss against the Astros. The cleanup hitter for the Giants also went 0-for-4 on Tuesday, including a strikeout.

Fantasy Impact: Two games doesn't make a cold streak for Pence, especially with many other Giants struggling at the plate recently. Prior to the last two games, he was riding a seven-game hitting streak. Hunter Pence remains a strong choice for a fantasy outfielder given his production in all major hitting categories.

Category: , Game Recaps

Hunter Pence put together another great game with a 2-for-3 effort in Chicago. He hit two singles, drew one walk, and scored two runs. Unfortunately, he was unable to drive any runs home.

Fantasy Impact: Pence is now riding a six game hit streak and batting .303 in August (.309 since he returned from injury in July). He hits significantly better against right handers (.312) than he does against lefties (.242), but he should continue to be a solid play in all formats regardless of the situation.

Category: , Game Recaps

Hunter Pence only went 1-for-5 from the plate, but he made his one hit count with a three-run line drive home run to left-center field. He managed to drive home another run on a groundout.

Fantasy Impact: While Pence's batting average has slowly begun to fall (he is currently batting .288), his power has really showed up so far this month with two home runs. He is still batting .300 against right-handers, but he has only had 30 at-bats all season against lefties.

Category: , Game Recaps

Hunter Pence hit the go-ahead solo HR in the 11th inning, leading the Giants to a 9-7 over the Texas Rangers Saturday night. He finished the night 2-5 with two RBI.

Fantasy Impact: Hunter Pence hit only his third HR in the past month, but has continued to produce for the Giants since his return to the lineup in early July. Pence is hitting at a .344 AVG in his past eight games and looks to build on that in the series finale Sunday vs the Rangers on Sunday. This is a positive sign for fantasy owners as Pence has missed a large majority of the season due to injury.

Category: , Game Recaps

Hunter Pence continued to roll with a 2-for-4 effort at the plate against Milwaukee. He hit one single, one double, scored one run, and also drove in one run.

Fantasy Impact: Pence had a fantastic month of July (although he did miss six games) with a .328 batting average and a .384 OBP. He hits .304 against right handers and left handers, so he is great everyday option in the outfield.

Category: , Game Recaps

Hunter Pence managed to reach base twice with a 1-for-3 effort from the plate (one single and one walk). He was unable to produce any RBI, but he did make it around the bases once to score.

Fantasy Impact: Pence's batting average has dropped a bit since his huge four hit night earlier in the week, but it still sits comfortably at .300. Batting in the middle of the lineup, he should have plenty of opportunities to drive in runs and score runs himself now that his teammates are fully healthy.

Category: , Game Recaps

Hunter Pence went 4-for-5 Friday night with seven total bases and two RBI.

Fantasy Impact: Pence has been unstoppable since returning from the DL, and he seems hell bent on making up for his lost counting stats. Since coming back from his injury, Pence is hitting .353/.389/.627 with three home runs. His pace isn't really sustainable, as he's struck out five times as many times as he's walked in the same span, and he's also carrying a .455 BABIP.

Category: , Game Recaps

Hunter Pence went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a home run in the Giants' blowout victory over the Padres.

Fantasy Impact: Pence has played extremely well since returning from the DL. This is his third home run in July in 44 plate appearances. Coming into the game, he had a .297/.350/.541 slash line since coming back from injury. He hasn't attempted a stolen base since coming back, which might be a concerted effort to reduce the likelihood of him re-aggravating his wrist sliding. Pence is still a top-30 outfielder no matter how you cut it.

Hunter Pence put together another big game, this time with a 1-for-2 effort at the plate with three walks. His one hit was a single and finished the game with one RBI, but no runs scored.

Fantasy Impact: Pence has been on fire in the two games since the All-Star break, and has managed to push his batting average back up to .300. It looks like he is back to his elite form, and as long as he stays healthy he is a great option across all formats.

Category: , Game Recaps

Hunter Pence had a big night for the Giants in a 12-inning win. Pence finished at 3-for-6 with one single, one double, and one home run. He drove in two runs and also scored twice himself.

Fantasy Impact: Pence slumped hard after returning from his first injury, but he played very well after returning from his second injury before the break. His big game raised his average from .283 to .296 and has his batting average in July sitting at .333. As long as he is healthy he is a great option in all formats, and if manager Bruce Bochy continues to let Pence hit fifth, then expect plenty of RBI opportunities.

Hunter Pence went 1-for-4 with a grand slam vs. Cole Hamels and the Phillies Friday

Fantasy Impact: It was possibly the best way to celebrate a Hunter Pence giveaway at AT&T Park. Pence's grand slam capped a disastrous game for Cole Hamels, who yielded nine earned runs. Pence has picked up where he left off from his wrist injury

Category: , Game Recaps

Hunter Pence made a surprise return from the DL, going 1-for-4 with 2 RBI.

Fantasy Impact: Pence also tossed in an incredible defensive play in right field which is worth seeking out. Pence was a solid top-twenty option last season and doesn't seem to have missed a step. Play him as you normally would. Only extremely well constructed teams would have a three better options in the outfield.

The Giants have re-activated Hunter Pence and have inserted him into the starting lineup. (Source: Alex Pavlovic on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: This follows an incredibly impressive BP session over the weekend. Insert him into your lineup as you normally would. The Giants could have held him out for extra healing time through the All-Star Break but chose to activate him early.

Fantasy Impact: No details on how the BP went for Pence. He's currently slated to be out until the All-Star Break. It's completely unlikely the Giants activate him before then, even if his wrist appears healed. They aren't going to rush him back.

The Giants do not expect star outfielder Hunter Pence back before the All-Star Break. He aggravated his wrist on a diving catch in early June and has been unable to play since then. (Source: Andrew Baggerly, San Jose Mercury News)

Fantasy Impact: This is a frustrating development for Pence, who missed a big piece of the season with a broken wrist that he then reaggravated. He has been one of baseball's iron men over the last half decade and his continued loss is a blow for the Giants. Fantasy owners have almost no choice but to stash him. The Giants offense is humming along without him so when he comes back, he should produce.

Category: , Injury Updates

Hunter Pence returns to the DL with lingering wrist issues. He has not played since June 2 when he re-aggravated the wrist on a diving catch. (Source: MLB.com)

Fantasy Impact: Finally, Pence owners can start making roster moves. He hasn't played in nearly two weeks. The injury is concerning as it is a lingering issue from his fracture. Justin Maxwell should see increased playing time in Pence's absence, and he has played decently in June, already popping two home runs in 21 plate appearances. Maxwell may present an inexpensive DFS play in the short term.

Category: , Injury Updates

The Giants have "stopped him from any activities to calm him down," per Bruce Bochy. He was initially expected back earlier this week. (Source: USA Today)

Fantasy Impact: If the Giants place him on the DL, it can be retroactive and make him eligible to return in a week. Pence is perennially a set-and-forget outfielder due to his steady production and the fact that he rarely took a day off. If he gets put on the DL, look for Justin Maxwell to get steady playing time for DFS purposes.

Hunter Pence remains in the dugout while dealing with an injured wrist that has kept him on and off the field since Spring Ball. Pence returned for a few weeks, then sat out again as the injury was reactivated. (Source: Alex Pavlovic on CSN Bay Area)

Fantasy Impact: When healthy, Pence is an absolute prize to have on your fantasy team. As the heart and soul of the Giants, Pence raked in 13 RBI in just 17 games. Along with 2 home runs, Pence showed his value in his brief return. As soon as the injury is fully healed, Pence is a must-start in fantasy leagues.

Giants Manager Bruce Bochy told beat writer Andrew Baggarly that Hunter Pence will start swinging a bat tomorrow, but won't play until Tuesday at the earliest. (Source: Andrew Baggarly on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Pence has been one of the better all-around outfielders since he has arrived in San Francisco, as well as one of the most durable. The wrist injury is an issue as it is a re-aggravation of his pre-season break. Monitor his situation closely.

Category: , Injury Updates

Bruce Bochy stated outfielder Hunter Pence may play Sunday, but Pence not expected to make the start. (Source: San Jose Mercury News)

Fantasy Impact: Hunter Pence suffered a bone bruise to his formerly broken wrist on a diving catch Tuesday. He sat out Wednesday, was the center of attention when the Giants visited the White House and sat out again Friday. This is worrisome but Pence is one of baseball's most durable players. So far this season, Pence has picked up where he left off in 2014, slashing .282/.329/.451 so far. The wrist may be a problem now, but his hitting shows it hasn't bothered him before he re-aggravated it.

Category: , Injury Updates

Hunter Pence had a great night at the plate as he went 3-for-5 with two singles and one double. Unfortunately, he was unable to knock in any runs, but he was able to score one run.

Fantasy Impact: This three hit performance bumped Pence's batting average up to .282 from .258. Pence has only played about half a month, and while his hitting has been slightly erratic of late, his production overall has been quite impressive. He is still a solid option across all formats.

Fantasy Impact: Pence's batting average has really taken a beating this past week, down to .258 from .326. When he is at his best, he is an on-base machine, whether it be through hitting or taking walks, and then causing havoc on the base paths once he is on. Expect Pence to pick up his game and rack up some more RBI since he is hitting in the three-hole.

Fantasy Impact: Hunter Pence has begun to slow down a little bit since his hot start to the season with his batting average dipping below the .300 mark. He is still a great option across all formats due to his ability to drive in runs, he already has recorded 12 RBI in just half a month.

Fantasy Impact: Pence has been extremely productive since returning from injury. He has only failed to reach base in three games so far, and he has a tendency to collect hits in bunches. He is surely worth the wait for those that kept him rostered in league play and he has already proven to be a force in daily games.

Fantasy Impact: Hunter Pence is proving to be worth the wait for everyone who drafted him. Unfortunately, his price will most likely rise very soon, so take advantage while you can.

Hunter Pence snapped his two game hitless streak as he went 2-for-4 at the plate with two singles. Each single was good for one run, but he also struck out twice.

Fantasy Impact: Pence has had a pretty nice start to his injury shortened season, sporting a .300 batting average with a .333 OBP and four RBI, but he has struck out a lot. He has fanned seven times in five games, so if he could cut that number down then his OBP would likely rise and he would be a slightly safer bet for fantasy owners.
