Rymer Liriano was discharged from the hospital and visited his team's Spring Training facility on Monday. Liriano suffered multiple face fractures when he was hit in the face by a pitch over the weekend.
Fantasy Impact
It's good to see Liriano out of the hospital. It's still not clear how much time he'll be forced to miss as a result of the injury. The injury, along with the uncertainty that surrounded Liriano's playing time, mean he's not fantasy relevant at this point.
X-rays revealed multiple facial fractures for Rymer Liriano after he was struck in the face by a Spring Training pitch.
Fantasy Impact
Liriano will remain in the hospital to be evaluated. It's not clear when he'll be able to return, and he's certainly a candidate to begin the regular season on the DL. He appeared to be an extra OF for the Brewers, so he wasn't extremely fantasy relevant.
Liriano is off to a good start in Spring Training going 3-for-7 with a 1.413 OPS through the first four games. The 24-year-old Liriano was acquired by the Brewers in January after being designated for assignment by the Padres.
Fantasy Impact
Liriano was considered a good prospect in the past so he could flourish with the Brewers if he can earn playing time in Spring Training. Liriano is battling outfielders such as Kirk Nieuwenhuis, Eric Young Jr. and Keon Broxton for regular season at-bats in centerfield. In 131 games at Triple-A last season, Liriano hit .292 with 14 home runs, 64 RBI and 18 stolen bases. Liriano is a name to keep on your radar this spring, especially in deeper mixed leagues and NL-only leagues.
