Casas ruptured his patellar tendon Friday night against the Twins after a collision at first base with Ty France, landing hard on his left knee. Boston chief baseball officer Craig Breslow told reporters Saturday that Casas was not expected to return this season. Romy Gonzalez has started at first in both games since and is 4-for-6 with a double, one run, one RBI and one stolen base. He’s slashing .327/.382/.449 this season and is a strong replacement option for Casas in fantasy lineups.
Triston Casas has been diagnosed with a ruptured left patellar tendon and placed on the 10-day injured list. He’s expected to miss the remainder of the 2025 season.

Although Casas was placed on the 10-day IL, Chief Baseball Officer Craig Breslow said he will undergo surgery and isn’t expected to return this season. Romy Gonzalez is likely to see the bulk of playing time at first base for now and offers some short-term appeal in deeper leagues, slashing .270/.340/.419 on the year. Rafael Devers could also see some time at first base.
