SP - SF - IL60
The Giants optioned RHP Tyler Beede to Triple-A Sacramento.
Beede returned from the 60-day IL earlier this month, but he'll get some work in the minors for now.
Tyler Beede, who is recovering from Tommy John surgery, was placed on the 60-day injured list on Friday, per a statement released by the Giants.
The Giants just claimed Jordan Humphreys off waivers so this procedural move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for him. Beede underwent TJ surgery nearly a year ago and is targeting a late May return to the team. The 27-year old compiled a 5-10 record with a 5.08 ERA, 1.48 WHIP, and a 113:46 K/BB ratio over 117 innings (22 starts) for the Giants back in 2019.
Tyler Beede, who is recovering from Tommy John surgery, said his goal is to hopefully be ready by May and "get back in the mix" in an interview on MLB Network Radio.
Beede had TJ surgery back in March so a return in May isn't out of the question for the 27-year old. He compiled a 5-10 record with a 5.08 ERA, 1.48 WHIP, and a 113:46 K/BB ratio over 117 innings (22 starts) for the Giants back in 2019. There's some upside here but it's best to take a wait-and-see approach for fantasy purposes.
Tyler Beede (elbow) will undergo Tommy John surgery on Friday.
Beede underwent multiple opinions on his elbow before making this decision. He was originally diagnosed with a flexor strain as well as the UCL sprain. The Giants probably figured that if Beede might need the surgery that now is as good of a time as ever.
Tyler Beede (elbow) will receive a second opinion on his arm injury from Dr. Neal El Attrache on Monday.
Beede was diagnosed with both a flexor strain and a UCL strain in his right elbow on Tuesday. It's very possible that Tommy John is on the horizon for Beede, but the Giants will seek a second opinion before deciding on a course of action.
