Vladimir Guerrero Jr. homers in Grapefruit League action

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit his second homer and walked in Grapefruit League action on Thursday in a loss to the Phillies.

Fantasy Impact

Guerrero not meeting the sky-high expectations as a rookie finishing at .272 with 15 home runs and 69 RBI. But he could break out in 2020 and fantasy owners should take a chance on the third baseman in upcoming fantasy drafts.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. crushes first homer of the spring

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went 1-for-3 with a home run during Sunday afternoon's spring training game.

Fantasy Impact

Guerrero Jr's sixth inning shot marked his first homer of spring training. Going in to his first full major league season, Guerrero will surely build upon his 2019 campaign, which saw him record 15 HR and 69 RBI.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. feels 'lighter' this off-season

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. says he is a lot stronger and also feels "lighter" compared to last off-season.

Fantasy Impact

Guerrero had a bit of a conditioning issue in his rookie season and has spent the off-season getting into better shape. It's a similar approach that Rafael Devers used last winter so there's certainly reason to be encouraged by this. In 2019 Vladito hit .272 with 15 homers and an underwhelming .772 OPS.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. pushing himself in off-season workouts

Blue Jays CEO Mark Shapiro says Vladimir Guerrero Jr. "couldn't be pushing himself harder" in off-season workouts thus far.

Fantasy Impact

Guerrero had a somewhat disappointing rookie season, batting .272 with 15 homers and a .772 OPS. He is trying to shed some weight and become more agile, which will also help with his defense. If Guerrero's ADP slips far enough this winter he could wind up being a draft-day value next spring. He doesn't turn 21 until March.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. will stick at third base according to Jays

Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins says the team is "committed" to Vladimir Guerrero Jr. playing third base.

Fantasy Impact

Atkins added that Toronto has a plan for Guerrero this off-season. The 20-year-old has battled conditioning issues and knee problems for two years now. The idea is if he comes into spring training in better shape perhaps the knee injuries will subside. Guerrero posted a .772 OPS this season to go along with a memorable second-place finish in the Home Run Derby.
