Sean Murphy (hip) to join High-A Rome on Tuesday
Sean Murphy (hip) will begin his rehab assignment on Tuesday in High-A Rome instead of Triple-A Gwinnett as initially reported. Rome begins a home series while Gwinnett will be on the road, hence the adjustment.
Fantasy Impact
Murphy's rehab schedule at Rome, according to Grant McAuley, will have him behind the plate for four innings on Tuesday, five innings on Thursday, and five-plus innings on Saturday. He would then serve as designated hitter on Sunday. Injuries have sapped his playing time over the last two seasons, and he has also combined to hit just .197 in 524 at bats in 2024 and 2025. Murphy is on track to potentially rejoin the Braves as early as next week and would likely replace Jonah Heim as the second catcher on the roster. However, Atlanta has a bit of logjam at catcher and designated hitter at the moment with Murphy soon joining Drake Baldwin, the reigning NL Rookie of the Year, and Dominic Smith, who is hitting .353 with a 1.025 OPS in 34 at bats, for two spots in the lineup.
