Cliff Alexander has been waived by the Pelicans on Sunday. Perry Jones was also waived leaving Cheick Diallo, Omri Casspi and Dante Cunningham as reserve forwards.

Diallo has the upside potential but we will have to see some regular-season points and production before we add him. He's someone to keep an eye on.

With the Blazers shaking up their roster so heavily over the offseason, and with Alexander showing a lot of promise in his play during offseason workouts, this is dire news. “He had an MRI (Friday) and it showed a bone bruise, so we’re going to kind of shut him down for a couple weeks and then work him back in,” said head coach Terry Stotts. “So he’s going to be out for a little bit.” As Alexander was fully expected to make the starting lineup given his offseason showing, this is particularly difficult news for getting a handle on where he sits in fantasy lineups since his participation in preseason games is now nullified.
