According to the Athletic, free-agent F/C Derrick Favors has signed a new deal three-year deal worth $30M to return to the Utah Jazz.
Favors spent nine seasons with the Utah Jazz, so he is very familiar with the culture and team. The Jazz frontcourt gets a nice boost adding Favors as he'll be able to provide valuable minutes for a playoff contender. Favors offers some fantasy value as a rebounder and occasional blocker, but he'll be a borderline late-round pick in most fantasy formats.
Derrick Favors totaled 10 points (5-8 FG), 12 rebounds, one assist, and one block in 23 minutes in the Pelicans' 122-113 loss to the Spurs on Sunday.
Favors posted his second consecutive double-double in the team's loss to the Spurs. It seems as if the nine-year veteran has found his rhythm, and is now providing much-needed production for an underachieving Pelicans' team. Should he remain consistent, he would warrant some consideration as a viable value play in DFS.
Derrick Favors totaled 12 points (5-8 FG, 2-3 FT), ten rebounds, one assist, and two steals in 29 minutes in the Pelicans' 118-107 in win over the Wizards on Friday.
Favors posted a double-double against the Wizards, bringing back the production that made him a key asset in the Pelicans' rotation. He hasn't been consistent in the scoring department, which has hindered his fantasy potential. Favors' high price-point could make it difficult to justify playing him in DFS, due to his low-floor. It would be best to limit shares of him in your lineup until he shows more consistency in his all-around game.
Derrick Favors totaled six points (3-4 FG), four rebounds, and one assist in 22 minutes in the Pelicans' 140-125 loss to the Kings on Thursday.
Favors cooled down in the Pelicans' loss to the Kings, only collecting four rebounds after snagging 13 against the Grizzlies. So far, during these "seeding" games, he hasn't been active scoring-wise, limiting his fantasy appeal. He is more suited for deep-league play. His current price-point and minimal production disqualify him from being a value play in DFS at this time.
Derrick Favors totaled two points (1-4 FG, 0-2 FT), 13 rebounds, and one block in 28 minutes in the Pelicans' 109-99 win over the Grizzlies on Monday.
Favors collected 13 rebounds in the win over the Grizzlies, continuing his dominant play defensively on the boards. He has not been reliable scoring-wise so far in these first three "seeding" games but has managed to maintain palatable fantasy production. With the lack of experience keeping Jaxson Hayes at "bay," Favors should be able to maintain his hold at the five making him a viable option in deep-league formats. His price seems a little too "rich" for him to be considered a cheap flier option in DFS; thus, he would be best positioned outside of your player pool at this time.
