C - BOS
The Boston Celtics have extended a qualifying offer to C Tacko Fall, making him a restricted free agent.
Fall will now hit free agency on Friday as a restricted free agent, meaning he will be free to sign an offer sheet with any team but Boston will have the opportunity to match the offer. The 7'5 big-man spent the 2020 season as a two-way player for the Celtics, averaging a mere 3.3 points and 2.1 rebounds per game in seven total games.
Tacko Fall scored two points as he made his only field goal over three minutes on Saturday night as the Celtics beat the Sixers by a 116-95 score.
The 24-year-old has been with the Maine Red Claws in the G-League most of the season but was recalled to the Celtics with the team dealing with injuries. The rookie big man has a long way to go before he makes an impact in the NBA and is only worth stashing in deeper dynasty leagues by fantasy owners.
Tacko Fall scored five points (2-2 FG, 1-2 FT), grabbed two rebounds and blocked a shot during Friday's 114-93 home win over Detroit.
With the Celtics blowing out the Pistons on Friday, Fall was able to get into the game and play the last five minutes. The rookie has been playing in the G-League but is getting a chance to sit on the bench for the team while Robert Williams and Vincent Poirier are out with injuries.
Tacko Fall had four points on 2-for-2 shooting with two rebounds, two assists, and two steals in seven minutes during Sunday's 118-72 preseason victory over the Cavaliers.
The Celtics converted Fall's contract to a two-way deal Sunday which means the rookie big man should be seeing plenty of time in the G League this season. He may get some opportunities to play with Boston during the year but he will not be fantasy relevant.
