Kerryon Johnson 'a good bet to carve out a nice role'

by Jody Smith | Mon, Jun 18th 10:51am EDT

Albert Breer of MMQB wrote that second-round rookie running back Kerryon Johnson has "flashed competitiveness and great run instincts," in OTAs and minicamp. Breer thinks that Johnson is "a good bet to carve out a nice role in the fall," if he can get up to speed as a pass blocker, where he's reportedly shown big improvements. (SI.com)

Fantasy Impact:

We've seen this all before out of Detroit. Johnson has a lot of talent but is likely to lose short-yardage work to LeGarrette Blount and passing down reps to Theo Riddick. Even behind an improving Detroit offensive line, Johnson could be limited to a dozen or so touches per week, which makes him more of an RB3/flex target in redraft formats. In dynasty, Johnson is firmly a top-10 pick
