Deadrin Senat has impressive preseason debut

by Gary VanDyke | Sat, Aug 11th 7:42am EDT

Third-round rookie nose tackle Deadrin Senat was reportedly impressive in manhandling the New York Jets offensive line in the loss Friday night. He was able to keep the pressure on the Quarterback while also helping to stop the run game. (usatoday.com)

Fantasy Impact:

With Dontari Poe moving on to Carolina the Atlanta first-team defense is looking for his replacement to slot in next to standout defensive tackle Grady Jarrett. If Senat can win the job with the first unit IDP owners should temper expectations, traditionally the nose tackle is a plug and pressure type defensive lineman and normally does not translate into high IDP production. The role is normally to help set up the other defensive lineman to get the job done. Head coach Dan Quin has been known to find those players who can overperform, so this situation does still deserve some monitoring over the preseason.
