Tyler Eifert expected to have team option declined, will become free agent

Jacksonville Jaguars TE Tyler Eifert is expected to have his team option declined, which will make him a free agent heading into the 2021 season. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Eifert was set to earn close to $5 million if Jacksonville picked up his team option for 2021. However, the eighth-year tight end was a mere afterthought in one of the worst offenses in 2020, catching 36 of 60 targets for 349 yards and two touchdowns across 15 games. New head coach Urban Meyer is in the midst of a massive rebuild within the organization and is already tailoring the roster, which will see Eifert hit free agency and try his luck elsewhere. He's still a talented receiving tight end when healthy but his injury history could drive him away from a prominent TE1 role on a contender in 2021.
