Tyler Eifert stays with Bengals on one-year contract

Tyler Eifert has re-signed with the Cincinnati Bengals on a one-year deal.

Fantasy Impact

The 28-year-old played in just four games last year before being lost for the season with a broken ankle. His size and speed would translate to big time fantasy production if he could ever stay healthy, but right now fantasy players can't count on that.

Tyler Eifert placed on IR

Tyler Eifert has been placed on season-ending injured reserve. He suffered a gruesome ankle injury Week 4.

Fantasy Impact

While Eifert's season is certainly over, it's fair to question if his career may also be done given the severity of the broken ankle he suffered Week 4. Without Eifert, the Bengals are expected to turn to C.J. Uzoma as their primary TE, though Tyler Kroft proved useful as a TD-dependent TE in 2017.

Tyler Eifert scores TD; leaves with ankle injury

Cincinnati Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert had a bittersweet day against the Falcons. Eifert caught four passes for 38 yards and a touchdown, his first score since the 2016 season. Unfortunately, he suffered what appeared to be a gruesome ankle injury during the game. The Bengals went on to beat Atlanta 37-36.

Fantasy Impact

Eifert's season is almost certainly over as it is speculated he either broke his ankle or his leg. It is a sad turn of events for a player who has had some of the worst injury luck in the league. Tyler Kroft will step in as the Bengals' starting tight end with C.J. Uzomah also seeing an uptick in targets.

Tyler Eifert suffers gruesome ankle injury

Tyler Eifert suffered a gruesome ankle injury during the Bengals' Week 4 game against the Falcons when a defender rolled on his ankle while tackling him. Eifert's ankle clearly bent a way it should not and the injury looks serious. He immediately grabbed it and was obviously in a lot of pain.

Fantasy Impact

Eifert will be at risk to miss extended time to recover from this injury, which looks similar to Gordon Hayward's ankle injury last year with the Boston Celtics. Tyler Kroft will likely fill the void. Expect him to be a hot name on the waiver wire this week.

Tyler Eifert sets season high in yardage

Cincinnati Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert turned in his most productive game of the season against the Panthers in Week 3. Eifert caught six passes for 74 yards in his team's 31-21 loss.

Fantasy Impact

Eifert is still looking for his first touchdown of 2018, but he is trending in the right direction. More importantly, the oft-injured tight end has remained out of the trainer's room. He could see a bigger role in Week 4 if A.J. Green's groin injury prevents him from playing.
