Thomas Davis Sr. to sign one-day contract; retire a Panther

by Lee Wehry | Thu, Mar 4th 9:08am EST

Former All-Pro linebacker Thomas Davis Sr. announced on Instagram that he will sign a one-day contract with the Carolina Panthers and retire after 16 seasons. (NFL.com)

Fantasy Impact:

The Panthers selected Davis with the 14th pick of the 2005 NFL Draft as a safety out of the University of Georgia. He was converted to LB in training camp, and the rest is history. He was a three-time Pro Bowler (2015-2017) and a two-time All-Pro (second team in 2013 and first-team in 2015). Davis was a beast on the field, but his off-the-field work made just as big of an impact. He founded the Defending Dreams Foundation (a non-profit providing and promoting free programs that enhance the quality of life for underprivileged children) with his wife, Kelly, and he was awarded the 2014 Walter Payton Man of the Year award. Hats off to a great player and a great man who will be discussed in conversations for a place in Canton.
