Trey Lance guides San Francisco to victory over Houston

by Jon Mathisen | Cowboys Correspondent | Sun, Jan 2nd 8:16pm EST

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Trey Lance completed 16-of-23 passes for 249 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception while adding eight carries for 31 yards on the ground in a 23-7 win over the Houston Texans on Sunday.

Fantasy Impact:

Lance was filling in for the injured Jimmy Garoppolo (thumb) on Sunday and looked lost in the first half, leading just one scoring drive that resulted in a field goal. He turned things up in the second half, however, tossing a pair of scores and picking up some yards on the ground. He rushed for a score in the waning minutes of the fourth quarter but it was called back due to holding. He would have had a pretty substantial fantasy game had that score counted but it was not meant to be. Overall, Lance was good but not great and head coach Kyle Shanahan will likely turn the ball back over to Jimmy Garoppolo if he's ready to go next week against the Rams.
