Miami releases Brandon Fields
by Reginald James | Tue, Sep 1st 12:42pm EDT
The Dolphins have released punter Brandon Fields. Undrafted rookie free agent, Matt Darr, is the new starter. Last season Fields was the second highest paid punter in the league. He took a pay cut to help the team free up salary cap space. However, while the rookie from Tennessee cost even less, having a longer gross and net average than Fields in camp and preseason games likely made a difference too. (Sun Sentinel)
Fantasy Impact:
Even with the pay cut, Fields was going to earn over $3 million this season. We'll find out by Saturday if the Dolphins start anew at kicker as well or keep Caleb Sturgis.
