Christian Ponder awaiting release

When rosters are trimmed to 53 this afternoon at 4pm, the Raiders are expected to release backup QB Christian Ponder. Ponder was signed as a free agent and was given a $1.5 million signing bonus to back up David Carr. He was outplayed by Matt McGloin in pre-season games, opening the door for the Raiders to use his roster spot for a more stacked position. They will carry only two QB's into the season. (ESPN)
